Marie Curie

Marie Curie was born in Poland in 1867. She remains one of the most famous scientists of all time, for her remarkable (and ultimately fatal) efforts to isolate, understand, and document the presence and properties of radioactive elements. She was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize, and the only woman to have ever won the Nobel Prize twice - in two different fields! Her prizes were in Physics for radioactivity, and in Chemistry for the discovery of polonium and radium. Only four people in history have ever won two Nobel prizes.

When Jessie was young, she always wanted to be a hairdresser. Turns out, writing quizzes and content for sites online involves cutting WAY less stuff off of people's heads. Who knew? But Jessie still cuts hair for her friends and family, who generally shy away from her friendly offers for a trim. Maybe it's the haircut, or maybe it's the trivia questions and obsession with the Kardashians that put them off. Jessie doesn't know, and Jessie is fine with that :)
