Music in the 1990s was truly something else. While the '70s and '80s had epic disco and rock tunes, the '90s brought a new genre, pop bands! Although groups such as One Direction, BTS, 5 Seconds Of Summer, and The Jonas Brothers are currently a hot commodity, it all began in the '90s with groups such as the Backstreet Boys, ‘NSync, and the Spice Girls. There is no doubt the '90s were a bangin’ time for good music, so let’s see just how much of it you remember.
All I Want For Christmas
The '90s was a historical time for music. While pop, hip-hop, and R&B reigned supreme, there was one category of music that was taking off, holiday music! In 1994, Mariah Carey released her hit Christmas song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, which she wrote and recorded herself on a Casio keyboard. While the song did well every Christmas, it officially reached #1 on the "Billboard Hot 100" in December 2019, 25 years after its release. This granted Mariah Carey her 19th "Billboard Hot 100" #1 hit, making her the most decorated solo artist in music history.
Beta vulgaris. That's what chard is. Would you want to eat beta vulgaris? More importantly, would you want to answer quiz questions by a person whose chosen name (chardemagne) is a portmanteau of Charlemagne and Chard? Well, it turns out that vulgaris actually means "common" not "disgusting", in the original Latin. One wonders if chard was the second most common greenery available? But let's talk about Charlemagne instead, because rather than being vulgar or common, Charlemagne was an emperor, a medieval one, and a benevolent one. That's pretty impressive. To control vast swaths of Europe during the dark ages, bringing people together...I'll take that namesake. And my quizzes are just as good. I swear.
