Major Events Of The 1990s - Were You Paying Attention?

While the 1990s saw countless cultural, political, and technological milestones, one that truly shaped the world of trade and business was none other than the start of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This agreement was made between Mexico, the United States, and Canada in 1994, thus creating one of the largest trade blocs in the world! This was only one of many historical events to have taken place in the '90s, let’s see how many you can remember.

Y2K

The '90s were full of just about every event you can think of. From pop culture and technology to politics and sports. However, the one event that shook the world was none other than Y2K. The “2000 Problem”, later called “Y2K”, was a huge concern for people in 1999. Critical industries and government functions were expected to stop working at 12:00 AM, January 1, 2000, after fear that computers would not be able to switch to a new millennium. While there was worldwide pandemonium, it seems as if everything turned out alright!

Beta vulgaris. That's what chard is. Would you want to eat beta vulgaris? More importantly, would you want to answer quiz questions by a person whose chosen name (chardemagne) is a portmanteau of Charlemagne and Chard? Well, it turns out that vulgaris actually means "common" not "disgusting", in the original Latin. One wonders if chard was the second most common greenery available? But let's talk about Charlemagne instead, because rather than being vulgar or common, Charlemagne was an emperor, a medieval one, and a benevolent one. That's pretty impressive. To control vast swaths of Europe during the dark ages, bringing people together...I'll take that namesake. And my quizzes are just as good. I swear.
